"Emissions" intentionally does not include any "top ten tips" for how to save the planet. We didn't want to preach at you; we wanted to get a different kind of party started.
However, many people have expressed frustration at not knowing what they could do, beyond the superficials. So we've put together a couple useful links - in keeping with our theme, we distinguish between individual vs. 'collective' responsibility.

Ask Umbra is possibly one of the best sources for useful "tips" for how to green things small or large in your life.
(There is some crappy, "greenwashed" advice out there , so some skepticism is warranted. But don't dismiss it all! We vouch for the good folks at Grist.org, i.e. they aren't full of shit.) |

- Vote for politicians who at least try to do cool green stuff.
- If you can't tell which policies are truly green, and which are bunk, spend 20 minutes on the web doing some research. - Send a quick email, even if once a year, to either show support for green policies, or artfully bark at the ones trying to squash them. - Do the same for companies that make products you use, or would like to use (they listen to the consumer). - Volunteer or contribute to an environmental organization. - Try not to rip off the transit system by sneaking on the bus: bad karma! |
